Robert Mazzarella

Robert Mazzarella
Chairman & CEO

Robert Mazzarella has over 33 years experience in the securities industry and more than 18 years at Fidelity Investments. Before he retired from Fidelity Investments in February, 2002 he was president of Fidelity Brokerage Services LLC. During his tenure at Fidelity, he was also president of Fidelity’s Institutional Brokerage Group which included Fidelity Capital Markets, correspondent clearing services, Registered Investment Advisor services, and market data distribution services.

Mr. Mazzarella joined Fidelity in 1983 as vice president of client services for National Financial Correspondent Services. He is now serving on the boards of Placemark Investments, an RIA in Wellesley, Massachusetts, M & O, Inc., a technology firm providing database services to financial firms, Siebert Financial Corporation, a public financial services firm. He chairs the Boston Options Exchange Regulatory Board and is a member of the Board of the Boston Stock Exchange.

 

Todd Christy - CTO

Todd Christy
President & CTO, Pyxis Mobile

Todd Christy is the co-founder President, and CTO of Pyxis Mobile. Todd is responsible for all Product Development activities. Todd has extensive experience architecting and building wireless software systems for some of the world's largest companies. He has more than 12 years of experience in the financial services sector, working primarily with asset managers and insurance companies. He has worked with many leading financial institutions, delivering enterprise-class wireless solutions to meet their mobile computing needs. Todd is regularly called upon to speak at industry events and conferences and is often sought for comment regarding technology trends in the financial services industry (e.g. Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Report on Business Television). Todd is a member of the NICSA Technology Committee, and sits on Research In Motion's ISV Advisory Council.

Prior to joining Pyxis Mobile, Todd was a senior technology manager in the Financial Services division of Accenture. During his tenure at Accenture, Todd focused on the management and implementation of information technology projects, leading large teams of clients and consultants through complex system engagements.

Todd was recognized in 2006 by the Boston Business Journal as one of the “Top 40 Under 40” business leaders in Boston. Todd holds a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering from Brown University.

Travis Connors
Partner, Egan-Managed Capital

Travis Connors joined Egan-Managed Capital in June 2000. He has more than eight years of investing and financing experience with technology companies at all stages of growth. As a partner, Travis spends his time evaluating new business opportunities and working closely with Centerstone Software, ChipWrights, IntelliVid and Webevent. Travis previously served on the board of directors of AllVertical.

Prior to joining Egan-Managed Capital, Travis was an associate in Merrill Lynch's technology investment banking group. At Merrill Lynch, Travis was involved with both public and private financings as well as M&A activities within several sub-sectors of the technology industry. Previously, he headed the Silicon Valley office of Spears, Benzak, Salomon, & Farrell (SBSF), an investment management firm based in New York. At SBSF, Travis focused on the firm's technology investment policy and was responsible for the analysis, recommendation and management of the firm's portfolio of public technology companies. Travis is a graduate of Connecticut College with a BA in Economics and earned his MBA from the Columbia Graduate School of Business.

Brian Girvan

Brian Girvan
Partner, Ascent Venture Partners

Brian joined Ascent in August 2003 as a Partner and as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. Brian has over 25 years of finance experience in the financial services industry including most recently as COO and CFO of Argo Global Capital, a $400 million venture capital firm in Wakefield, MA. Brian has previously worked as a senior executive in several roles at Fidelity Investments including as a Senior Vice President and CFO of their retail division, as CFO of their intermediary-based mutual funds division and as a Senior Vice President and Division Executive of their institutional brokerage division. Prior to that, Brian was a Senior Vice President, CFO and Treasurer of Affiliated Managers Group, a publicly held investment management firm with over $70 billion in managed assets and a Senior Vice President and CFO of PIMCO Advisors, a publicly held investment management firm with over $100 billion in managed assets.

Current directorships include: Placemark Investments, Bluesocket, Inc., Pyxis Mobile, and North Track Mutual Funds. Brian attended Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York where he received a B.S. (BBA) degree in accounting. Brian is a CPA.

Larry Raffone
Executive Vice President, Financial Engines

Larry is Executive Vice President of Sales and Client Services. In this role, he oversees the sales and distribution of Financial Engines’ suite of advisory services to employers, plan providers, and retail financial institutions. Larry also heads the Client Services Team, which is in charge of serving the firm’s growing list of customers, and the Client Communications Team, which ensures that Financial Engines’ services reach plan participants and help them take positive action with their financial futures. Larry has nearly seventeen years experience in senior sales and client management for financial services companies. Prior to joining Financial Engines, he was Executive Vice President of Fidelity Investments Institutional Brokerage Group (IBG), a division of Fidelity Investments. At Fidelity, Larry oversaw the correspondent services business, which was then the second largest business in the industry serving the banking, insurance, and independent broker/dealer channels. Larry was also responsible for growing Fidelity’s market share to the second largest in the registered investment advisory business. He earned a B.A. in marketing from Bryant College and an M.B.A from Babson College.

Steven Levy

CEO, MEARS Technology

Mr. Steven Levy joined MEARS Technologies, Inc. as its Chief Executive Officer in February of 2007 and brings to the Company his comprehensive experience of successfully growing and strengthening technologically dynamic companies.

In 1991, Mr. Levy co-founded Macgregor with Rolando Rabines and continued working there until 2006, having led the sale of the financial technology firm to ITG for approximately $250m. As CEO of Macgregor, he provided trade order management and networking solutions to the asset management and brokerage industry. Mr. Levy’s ability to create new revenue sharing models within the industry allowed Macgregor to gain a greater portion of the value they were delivering than traditional technology providers.

 

Shane Hughes - President and CEO

Shane Hughes is the co-founder of Pyxis Mobile. Shane served as the CEO and President of Pyxis Mobile from 1998 to 2008, formulating and communicating the vision for the Company and securing the appropriate resources to build a self-sustaining, profitable and dominant firm. In addition, he oversaw execution of a clear strategy focused on combining exceptional customer service, industry knowledge, and technical expertise to deliver a suite of products that exceed user expectations. Under Shane’s leadership, Pyxis Mobile became the leading provider of wireless enterprise applications to the Financial Services industry. He brings over fifteen years of experience in the financial services and technology sectors.

Prior to Pyxis Mobile, Shane was a technology consultant aligned within the Financial Services division of Accenture. While at Accenture, he earned the FLMI insurance industry designation. Shane is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts – Amherst where he received a BBA in Management. He remains active within the alumni community and in the classroom. Shane is a regular contributor to numerous industry publications and is regularly quoted in the press. He is also a frequent panelist on wireless application trends in the financial services industry. Shane was recognized in 2005 by the Boston Business Journal as one of the “Top 40 Under 40” business leaders in Boston. Under his leadership, Pyxis Mobile has also been named as one of Boston’s Top 20 Best Places to Work for two consecutive years.
